IP lookup

Look up details for any public IP address

Enter any public IP address to see its approximate location, network provider, and public lookup details.

What is an IP lookup?

An IP lookup shows public network information associated with an IP address. It can estimate where the IP is located, which network or organization it is associated with, and whether it appears to come from a home network, mobile carrier, VPN, proxy, or data center.

IP lookup results are based on network and geolocation databases, so they should be treated as estimates, not exact personal identity or real-time location data.

What an IP lookup can tell you

  • Approximate location

The country, region, city, and sometimes an approximate postal area associated with the IP address.

  • Network provider

The ISP, mobile carrier, cloud provider, workplace, school, VPN, proxy, or hosting provider linked to the IP.

  • Network type

Whether the IP appears to be associated with a residential network, mobile carrier, VPN, proxy, or data center.

  • ASN and network

The autonomous system number and network organization that routes traffic for the IP address.

  • Hostname

A reverse DNS name, when available, that may give more context about the network or server.

  • Reputation signals

Some databases may flag whether an IP is associated with spam, fraud, proxies, VPNs, or unusual traffic.

What IP lookup can’t identify

An IP lookup can show network-level information, but it usually cannot identify a person by itself.

Exact address
An IP address usually cannot reveal someone’s street address, apartment, or exact home location.
Real identity
An IP address usually cannot reveal a person’s name, phone number, email address, or account identity by itself.
GPS location
IP-based location is approximate and does not show a device’s exact GPS coordinates.

Why use an IP lookup?

Use IP lookup to understand where an IP appears to come from, who operates the network, and whether it matches the connection you expect.

  • Check an unknown IP

Look up an unfamiliar IP address from logs, alerts, emails, or account activity.

  • Review server or app traffic

See whether traffic is coming from a cloud provider, data center, VPN, proxy, or expected region.

  • Troubleshoot access issues

Check whether an IP location or provider may affect content access, login verification, or regional behavior.

  • Verify your proxy or VPN exit IP

Confirm which public IP and location websites see when you use a VPN, proxy, or routing setup.
