A computer that suddenly slows down, shows more pop-ups, or triggers strange account alerts may be hacked or infected with malware. It is not proof by itself, though. The calmer move is to check the highest-risk signs first, then isolate and recover in the right order.[1][2]
Web pages, files, and window switching all feel sluggish. The fan runs hard, and the device heats up even while idle. That does not automatically mean a hack, but if you have not installed heavy software or system updates recently, an unknown background process is worth checking.[2]
