Mac Installation Authorization Issues
If you encounter AethoVPN installation or authorization issues on macOS, you can try the following solutions:
- Check the app source and macOS Privacy & Security settings:
- Make sure the DMG file was downloaded from the official AethoVPN website. Do not open installers from email, messaging apps, mirrors, or other third-party sources;
- On macOS Ventura 13.0 or later, open "System Settings" > "Privacy & Security". On earlier versions, open "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" > "General";
- If macOS shows that AethoVPN was blocked, click "Open Anyway" only after confirming that the app came from the official source;
- Do not enable apps from "Anywhere" or grant Full Disk Access or additional Terminal permissions solely to install AethoVPN. Allow only the VPN configuration and other system requests whose purpose is clearly explained.
- Reinstall the AethoVPN app:
- If you encounter installation authorization errors, try uninstalling and reinstalling AethoVPN: Delete the current AethoVPN app. Re-download and install from the official website.
- Avoid command-line workarounds:
- Use the official installer instead of commands from unverified sources. Do not grant Terminal additional privacy permissions solely to bypass an installation warning.
- Check for system updates:
- Ensure your macOS is the latest version. Sometimes, authorization issues may be related to system versions, and updating to the latest macOS version may resolve the issue. Open "System Preferences" > "Software Update" to check for available updates.
- Contact customer support:
- If the above methods do not resolve the issue, you can contact customer support through the help center on the AethoVPN website or app, and we can provide more detailed troubleshooting and solutions.
